Inspired by the “ethereal techno” tracks currently produced from Berlin Germany, Down the Slide finally captures the feeling I have been wanting to create for my last several releases. I have intended to do something like this but always get sidetracked into something different.
The Phrygian scale of the melody and harmony haunts the mood and is built atop a steady 123bpm techno rhythm. Native Instrument’s Monark prevailed over the competition for the lead instrument role, with some weird processing from Cableguys’ TimeShaper.
Check out the 1 minute Down the Slide video I produced for Instagram (they limit you to 1 min). The live frequency meter overlay is precisely real time to the music (Quicktime allows you to screen grab video as well as static pictures—pretty cool!)

I just released a new single on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, Deezer, Tidal and Beatport. Also available from the Amazon music store and maybe Amazon Music Unlimited—not sure.
An old 1940’s movie voice sample in the public domain (not sure which one) provided the inspiration for the title. The sample says, “Time is running out”, which I then processed and mutated. Somehow the sample just fit with the music I was already producing.
I created the music from inspirations kicked out from the interaction of the Cthulhu (Xfer Records) software and my desire for unusual chord progressions. Bitwig Studio’s micro-pitch editing provides subtle effect to the progressions.
I placed the teaser video for the Running Out Instagram post in the Video section of this site: Videos

All my music releases are now linked and updated. Here is the discography order of creation:
